Budapest hosts again the Water Summit to raise awareness of water, one of the world's most endangered resources.
President Janos Ader patrons the event, just like he did at the successful Water Summit in 2013. He stated in his opening remarks that water is today's most endangered resource, so politicians must act to save it. “We can't have enough food, further industrial development and sustainable urbanization without the right amount of water. Water is also the key for peace and security”, he said.
The Budapest Water Summit 2016 aims to show that water shall be the source of cooperation, peace and development for all the countries committed to sustainable development. That's why its motto is “Water connects”.
The conference is attended by 1,800 representatives from 117 countries.
