Budapest Bids for Hosting an International Energy Agency Event

The capital would like to host the ministerial meeting of Governing Board

Hungary would like to host the ministerial meeting of Governing Board of International Energy Agency next year. The bid has submitted Wednesday.

Istvan Mikola, State Secretary for Security Policy and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced that Budapest's bid was welcomed most enthusiastically by the Member States of the energy agency that is part of the OECD.

The meeting of Governing Board will most likly to be a high-priority European event, and the Agency may decide on the details within a few weeks.

According to Mr Mikola, the event is particularly important for Hungary because the country is an “energy sensitive” one and “is interested in diversification”, plus would like to serve “long-term energy supply”.
