According to officials, border fence is “an important physical barrier” that assures Hungary can manage that migration wave.
As Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister Gyorgy Bakondi says, before all of the border outside select official crossing points were closed last year, “as many as eight to ten thousand illegal migrants were entering the country every day”. It took officials in a very difficult position, as Hungary's border is a Schengen Area border.
“The Romanian and Hungarian border protection bodies have been cooperating effectively, and for the time being construction of a fence there is not necessary”, said Mr Bakondi regarding a further construction of the fence.
