The government wants to defend the low household utility bills from the planned energy union.
Ruling parties Fidesz and KDNP ask the government to do everything to protect the reductions in household utility bills. Christian Democratic MP Istvan Hollik told a press conference that the reductions in household utility bills is one of the most important of the five challenges which PM Viktor Orban mentioned in his state of the nation speech. He added that if the European Commission enables the energy union, the results of the reductions will be endangered. The energy union would take away the right of the member states to determine the energy prices, he explained.
