Carmaker rolls out 500,000th vehicle at Kecskemét plant

Mercendes-Benz has completed production of its 500,000th automobile at its factory in Kecskemét - the comany said in a statement. The carmaker has invested some EUR1 billion at its Hungarian factory since 2012.

The ceremony was attended by Hungarian Prime Minister Vikttor Orbán, the mayor of Kesckemét, and the state secretary of the National Economy Ministry.

The 500,000th passenger car from Kecskemét is a cosmos black CLA, which is going to a Hungarian customer. 

The Kecskemét site is currently investing 15 million euros in an innovative logistics concept.

"We are planning to further develop the location on a continuous basis. Currently, 15 million euros are invested in an innovative logistic concept”, said Christian Wolff, who has been CEO and site manager of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. since 1 January 2016.

The Kecskemét plant opened on March 29, 2012 and currently has a headcount of approximately 4,000. Last year, the plant Kecskemét produced over 183,000 passenger cars.
